Sunny Saturday!

Appearances can be deceiving, it is pretty darn cold out today but I'll enjoy the sun streaming through the window nonetheless.....
Been pretty busy of late, kids sick, you know the drill. Anyhow, this is some of the scrappy stuff I have been working on. I participated in the Little Scrappers online crop last weekend and here are a few of the things I got done:

Also completed a couple of layouts for the Art Freckles :"Trash Your Stash" challenge:

Monday, Monday....

I want to scrap this week! Hopefully my schedule will allow me some time to do that. My scrappin' resolution (if you want to call it that) is to use up my stash. Seriously. I have hoarded paper that dates back to 2004. I can't help it, it's so pretty and I always want to save it for the perfect picture. Well, let me tell you something, that day rarely comes and all you end up with is a huge stack of paper going to waste (and in my case, a husband who asks, "don't you have enough paper?")

Carla posted a sketch challenge on Lil' Scrappers and here is my interpretation. The layout is about my son who would get nosebleeds all the time.

Supplies:
KaiserCraft "Thrill Seekers" pp
7 Gypsies photo anchor
Maya Roads office sheers
Sticker Studio Roadtrip alphas

Then I used the leftover paper to create these 2 card that I made for the Caardvarks challenge. The challenge this week was to use polka dots.

Hero Arts Blog Challenge

Directly from their site:

the challenge for this week is to create a non-Valentine project (card, scrapbook page, or other) featuring — you guessed it — hearts! Upload your creations to the Hero Arts Flickr group by 11:59pm PST on Sunday, February 1. Please include the tag “heartfelt” on your submissions. We have lots of prizes up for grabs this week!

There you have it. Now to check and see what kind of HA stamps I have.....

Welcome to 2009!

And how is the New Year working out for you so far? To be honest, I started the year off feeling disorganized so I started by cleaning and organizing my entire scrap space. It feels great! Except for the fact that I have come to realize that I have way too many scrap supplies and patterned paper that I have hoarded and are starting to accumulate at alarming rates. So I made my first scrap related resolution, it is as follows:

1. Use as much of my stuff as possible! (so I can buy more...)

Besides, I am instituting a scrap budget (eek! I know!) so I will have to be choosy about what I buy. I would love to get our line of credit paid off, and of course that is easier said then done, especially when I am in the middle of buying new furniture for the house LOL.

Anyhow, anybody have any scrap related resolutions? I would love to hear them if you do! That being said, I was inspired by Triple the Sketch blog (sketch #38) to create this layout, you can find their site (and the sketch) HERE.

and in other news.....

Making memories is holding a 2009 give-away (YUM!). Stop by their blog and leave a comment on the January 2nd post about what you like and what you would like to see in the future.

Prima Build-a-Page Sketch

Is back! I love it, an inspiring sketch and the chance to win goodies, how awesome is that? You've got until January 30th to upload into the Prima gallery.

Art Freckles Blog Contest

Art Freckles blog (Ontario) is hosting a "Use Your Stash" contest (isn't this an awesome idea???) and after the 6-week period there is a chance of winning a guest DT spot. Sound like fun? Check out the facts HERE.

Featured Canadian Kits

Here is a look at the January 2009 kit from "Love is in the Details" a Canadian online store/gallery/forum based out of Manitoba. What a great store and wonderful/friendly chatter in the forum. The base for this kit is the Fancy Pants "Splendid" line with some other stuff thrown in from Jenni Bowlin, Bazzill and Maya Road, to name a few.

That's all I've got for you tonight.

I'm a bad girl.....

I knew things were getting hectic, guess I didn't realize just how much!! I am going to have to blame it on the holidays. Anybody else rushing around trying to get things done before the "big day"? I absolutely hate holiday shopping, people are crazy! But somehow I find myself braving the traffic so I can find the new vtech kids camera that's on sale at Zellers. (I'll probably just go to Wal-Mart and show them the flyer, can you say price match?)

Anyhow, on to some scrappy stuff.... I haven't been creative in quite a while so I'll stick with showing you some fun stuff I found while surfing this evening...

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of Christmas 2008

I am amazed again this year. His tags are soooo gorgeous. I tried one of them last year and my tag paled in comparison. Maybe I will get the guts to try it again this year LOL.

Giveaway at Hero Arts blog

There are some great inspirational sketches by Becky Fleck and a cool giveaway to boot, life is good! Leave a comment about your favourite sneak peek (more details on the blog site) and have a chance at winning some goodies (hurry up, this ends soon!):

PageMaps Sketch Contest

Another gorgeous sketch by Becky Fleck and the best is, you can win something. It's a $20 Gc to an online store (I think...). Anyhow, just creating a layout (or card) based on this sketch would be fun in itself, the chance of maybe winning something is just a bonus right?

Sassafrass Lass "Life at the Pole" contest

A fun little contest from SL, here are some details from their blog:

"make something unique from our ad in this month's scrapbook etc. magazine... and you could win the entire life at the pole collection!

Almost over?

Weekends just pass too quickly.... I am going to try and scrap today but I have some gardening that needs to get done before the really cold weather kicks in. Plus the kids need some fresh air too. Before I head off, here are a few goodies for you!
Cool technique at OLW:
Alter a page protector! Karla has posted step-by-step instructions on how to do this cool technique, and the best thing is... it's simple!

Contest at Pagemaps, check it out!!
There is still time! Here is some info from the PageMaps Blog:
To celebrate NBCA, I'm inviting all of you to create a layout based on this sketch. No, your layout doesn't have to be pink! And no, it doesn't have to be about breast cancer. Instead, scrap about something that is meaningful to you, the way breast cancer is meaningful to me.

This contest starts today (9 Oct) and runs through midnight on Monday, October 27, 2008 (MST). The winner will be announced here no later than Friday, October 31st. Be creative, inject your own style and have a bunch of fun with the sketch! The winner will receive a loaded prize package of Melissa France "Thankful" papers and embellishments, stamps, rub-ons and ribbons.

So here's a question.....
These "hot" new flowers from Prima... couldn't you just buy some fabric at Wal-Mart and make your own for a fraction of the cost? I admit they are pretty cool looking, but honestly....
The next time I am anywhere near fabric I am going to buy some (WM always has the little bins with scraps) and try this out myself. Anybody else with me on this? I would love to see some homemade flowers!! Please link me up if you make any, I would also love to see any other type of homemade embellishments so please leave a comment :)

Some cool Canadian kits!
ScrapShotz October Card Kit ($14.95 CAD)

Just Cre8 November Kit (Special $59.00 CAD)

Lil' Scrappers October card kit ($29.95 CAD)

That's it for me, time to feed the kiddies and get on my gardening duds...:)
